15 years … it’s hard to believe that it’s already been that long! What started out as an idea of being able to capture expert knowledge and make it available to everybody in an optimised way using Bayesian Networks has since turned into a viable commercial solution that we have been developing for a decade and a half.
The initial research project started out at Aalborg University in 1998 in collaboration with Hewlett Packard R&D where the founders of Dezide were all employees. Three years later Dezide was created as a spin-off from HP. At that time, the product was not really suitable for commercial use and consisted mainly of engineering prototypes. The basic research was completed however and the core technology was in place, but we needed time to turn the core technology into a commercial software suite. A couple of years down the line and we were signing the first major contract with the largest telecommunications company ‘TDC’ in Denmark – a customer to this day still. A statement to the results we have been able to deliver and even more so a statement to how we do business – a long term partnership!
After working within telecommunications we expanded into other industries including wind, mining, air compressors, various industrial manufacturing industries, semi conductors and consumer electronics.
We’ve seen support and service mature over the years and we have seen knowledge management grow into a corporate asset and capability – we’ve been there seeing the service department evolve over the last decade from a cost consuming necessity to a real business unit generating revenue in the 30-70% range.
We continue to see new possibilities for applying our technology and we truly believe that what we do is more relevant than ever and we are looking forward to continue helping businesses turn their knowledge into value for many years to come.
We are thankful for all the support we have been shown over the years from friends, family, employees, customers, partners and networks and we are looking very much forward to coming years!
